If a club were to request your insurance policy numbers...

Hypothetical situation that has me curious...

Imagine a boat club (private club, not a business) were to demand your insurance policy numbers on your craft, would the members be obliged to disclose this? Is there any legislation protecting members from having to disclose this?

It would be my understanding that the club should be satisfied with a member signing a form acknowledging that they have insurance on their craft.

    Your opinions are welcomed....

It may be there way of weeding out liars who aren't insured. If it is a condition of membership I can't see any way around it if a person wants to be a member.

It's not a condition of membership. On the renewal form, there is a section which you must sign which states you confirm you have insurance for your craft

If a private Golf Club can legally restrict women's membership then I think you can take it that a private boat club can ask for the information you mention.

Cheers. I'm not for or against it, was just looking for some impartial advise incase there were any repercussions in the future
