So, I can't for the life of me seem to find any high quality recordings on the internets. Which is why I'm thinking of just buying a recorder and doing it myself.

Has anyone a decent resource for high quality, close mic recordings of absolutely anything? (banging tin cans, the weather, whatever)

I've tried archive.org and freesound etc but they're not great really. Don't like using sample packs because they're usually ****e and/or used by 1000 of other people.

Berkley School of Music have a huge library of weird field and foley recordings available to the public.

I have a Tascam DR-07...fantastic bit of kit that i tend to record all sorts of weird stuff with that end up in my songs.

it definitely seems like your question is so precise you are better off doing it yourself.

but otherwise i would recommend and sample packs from Zero G 1987-1990. lots of weird obscure noises.. and you still won't find them downloadable on the internet anywhere. you'll have to buy them from ebay
