Best man's duties during speeches

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could give me info on the formal aspects of my duties as best man. I have the speech written but I just need to know what else I have to do and in what order.

I know everyone else gives their speeches before me and that I have to call them to the stage.

I am just wondering if I am supposed to introduce myself immediately at the beginning or do I leave that until I am giving my own speech.

Does the toast to the bridesmaid happen before my speech or at the end and can I ask the same question for the toast to the bride and groom?

Are there any other standard practices I haven't mentioned and which I am expected to perform?

Also, in which order are the people called up to speak. There will be a father of the bride, father of the groom, bride, groom and myself speaking.

    Thanks for the help..

Everyone will know who you are if you're the best man but you can say your name and your relationship to the groom when you open the speeches. Keep the introductions brief, one liner to be funny if you wish to break the ice. theyll move fast though so dont worry about that

do the toast to bridesmaids at the beginning of your speech. Have a quick chat with your fellow speakers though, Ive been at weddings where every speaker toasted the bridesmaids. they were nice, but they werent that nice. :)
The bride and groom toast will be at the end of your speech

for speeches, not really, if theres any obligatory flowers to be handed out the bride or groom tend to do that. dont worry about them, they'll fly by theres very little rules about them and as long as theyre shortish with a little humour you'll be fine.

I would suggest grooms father, brides father, bride, groom and then you.

you would also introduce them for their entrance to the reception. Check if ye having a priest do grace too.

I had to do it recently.

    Keep it not too long.

When introducing yourself do the "as you can see I got the looks, he got the bulk" quip, breaks the ice.

You unfortunately have the less glamorous job of being the grooms bitch, e.g. taking luggage from car to his room, going to the bar for him, cleaning up his vomit.....actually I think that was just my brother using me.
