1998 Mondeo worth anything?

    Hi y'all,

I have a 1998 1.6 L Petrol GLX Mondeo with only 75,000 miles on the clock(unbelieveable I know but has been in the family since day 1 so it's legit!).
Got a new timing belt for it last year too.

Was having trouble starting it a while back so dropped it off at the local garage (which in hindsight was the worst thing I could have done as I subsequently found out that the lads there did not have a clue).
They had it for ages and we ascertained that it's not the fuel pump, fuel rail, crankshaft sensor nor ECU. Was starting up by pouring fuel directly into the carburettor. Diagnostics did not seem to be able to communicate. The lads in the garage annoyed me so much by messing me around for months and months so I just took the car back off them one day and left it at that. It's now starting but the engine is not sounding too healthy and sounds like it may be only firing on 3 cylinders. A few friends have had a look and can't figure it out.

I have since acquired a replacement car so no longer need this one but I was just wondering if anyone would know if the car would be worth anything to sell on or is it just destined for the scrap heap? It seems such a waste to crush this great car with such little milage. The interior is still perfect and spotless and there is only a few minor scrapes on the outside. Tyres in good nick and NCT until Feb 2012. Full Ford service history until I gave it to these cowboys to fix.

Any advice on what to do would be appreciated. Could be a good project for somebody to try and fix, could be sold or passed on for parts, or simply just scrapped :(

Put it on DoneDeal for €500 and take the 1st decent offer.

It would be a shame to scrap it. I'd say its nothing too major wrong with it. Did they try replace the parts they ascertained wasn't the problem?

    Where are you based?

Yep fuelrail and crankshaft sensor replaced to no avail. Also the air mass meter was replaced.

I think there great cars but as a second hand car these days they don't hold there value. (i just sold mine with nct till 2013 and 100,000 miles for 700 and that took a while to sell)
So your options aren't great, have you anyone in your family who would want it as a run about and a bit of time to diagnose the problem , because if it's such low millage and you know it's history then it'd be a shame to scrap for a €120 or whatever it is or sell it for not much more IMO,
