Need €6000 to help pay registration fees, will be making €330 a week from college and might be living at home so no rent etc, what are the chances of BOI giving me this loan and if so what do ya reckon the repayments would be? Cheers for any input.

I think its pretty difficult to judge without knowing your financial cicrunstances. Do you have a credit card? What is your credit history? I would say in this climate that the likelihood of you getting a 6,000 loan is slim though tbh. Would you not look into other possibilities... my college allowed registration fees to be paid in a couple of installments over the year - if you could do the same then you would be sable to save enough of your income to cover this.

Please dont take on student loans unless you absolutely have to. Im still paying off mine - 240 a month which on top of rent is a lot. I know you say you are living at home now but you might not be in three years and the loan will still be there!

Any chance of getting it from the credit union?

Depending on what you're studying, good chance.

This was with no previous loans and cleared credit card.

They give it to me (with deferred payment) whereas my local Credit Union refused as they don't do student loans (no option for deferred payment).

I would say you are in with quite a good chance and suspect repayments would be in the region of 150 per month; BOI also allow you to defer payment for a few months upon successful request. You can find their rates on their site.

But really, as closifer said, other avenues should probably be explored first.
