    Hi everyone,
We have ds on the list for two local primary schools, St Marys boys school on Haddington Rd. and Star of the sea Boys school in Sandymount. Just wondering if anyone has experience of either school or indeed can recommend any other primary schools near the area.

    thanks in advance,
    L

Hi there, not sure if you got sorted. I have friends who have their children in both of them schools and they would highly recommend them. I sent my 2 children to St. Matthews in Sandymount and cant say enough good things about it. :)

Womble, how far in advance did you have to put your kids' names down for Matthews? Hoping to get our son in there and are on the list....

I had her name down since she was 9 months old but her brother went to the school also, hope that helps.

Is it for this Sept or next Sept? I know they have waiting lists, its a great school. Have you got any other local schools in mind? There are 2 great schools in Ringsend and St. Brigids in Haddington Road is very good too.

It's actually for 2014 but only just got his name down last week. We're keen on co-ed so don't have his name down for St. Brigids. Any other local recommendations? (Have him down for Andrews and RMDS as well but they're a bit of a trek for us at the moment).

Ah you might be lucky with St. Matthews, fingers crossed. Not sure of any other local co-ed schools, the ones in Ringsend are not co-ed, sorry.

    Hi HappyWomble

I went to Star of the sea many moons ago, was a great school.
My 4yo started there this year, he loves the place.
They have recently had some construction work completed adding new class rooms.
The school is very well run, has a good parent teacher association.
Overall I could not rate it highly enough.

When younger some of my friends went to Haddier ( as we called it)
Friend of mine, sons go to Haddington road,
Speaking to him this is also a very good school.
He speaks very highly of it.

Alas no real comments about Matthews, other than whats already been said.
Another good school in the area.

    Best of luck
