    Hello, Would anyone be able to tell me it the Immigration Residence and Protection Bill 2010 has become law, and if not is there a statute that codifies the area of immigration control.
    Thanks

    No: http://www.oireachtas.ie/viewdoc.asp?DocID=15565&&CatID=59&StartDate=01%20January%202010&OrderAscending=0

    I imagine you will need to read several acts to get the full picture. These pages are useful http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/isbc/1972.html (1972 is only an example), but read the disclaimer here: http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/ However, you will still need to check that a section has been commenced.

    However, if it is any way compicated or adversarial, you need to talk to a solicitor who has experience in immigration law.

    They have only just begun to verify fingerprints to identify those that have come from the UK having failed their applications for asylum there .A survey showed that 2/3 came from the UK.I assume that mainland Europe still poses a problem.You may remember the row between Italy and France where they dump failed asylum seekers at the border.
    There is a growing number of undocumented here 30,000 some reports 54000. Some asylum seekers refuse to say what country they are from.
    Eg A Brazilian can say he came from Angola his mother was a Portuguese descendant .
    Can you prove otherwise.

    His dialect would be analysed and he would be asked questions to gauge his local knowledge. If he was not actually from Angola I imagine he would be sussed out fairly quickly.
