    Hi All,

I'd really appreciate some advice on this one.

I am currently working on a fixed term contract for the past year. The contract is coming to an end so I have applied for a few new jobs. Now I am in a bit of a predicament in that I was told after an interview last week that I have been offered an additional year with the company I currently work for. Great news - Its great to have the security. Then today, I was offered one of the jobs I applied for last week. It sounds like an amazing job and means I could move back to where I want to be....everything is perfect about the job except for the fact that it is only a 6 month position. There is the possibility of an extension after the 6 months but then again nothing is ever set in stone. My biggest fear is to end up on the dole again after 6 months...

My heart says take the 6 months but my head says take the year...Would I be mad leaving a job of a year for a 6 month contract?? Thanks for reading.

Id keep my 1 yr contract they are obviously happy with your work or they wouldnt have renewed the contract so thats a good thing

i would go the other way. if the 6 month contract is one you would love to persue then go for that. being really happy in a job shows in the output you have for it. most companies say they have only x amount of months for a job, but if work goes well they may keep you.
it depends on your situation also, if you have a family to look after etc. it may hamper your thinking.

all in all if the shorter contract is something you really want then go for that
