Just something I've always been randomly aware of

Do you think it'd make any sort of difference if you send a job application late at night?

I guess I'd have the fear it makes you come across as a night owl, in a bad way

I'm always doing it. Often at 3am. Got 2 jobs that way, granted the first was shíte.

No negative effect for me anyway.

The way I saw it was it'd be first mail in the employers inbox in the morning :D

I receive a lot of job applications, and I couldn't give a flying monkey what time they get submitted at!

Someone could be on shift work, emailing while they're abroad in a different timezone, or just staying up late at night if they're not currently working. I really wouldn't see it as a reflection of what type of worker they are. If I did happen to pay attention to the time of the application, I would just assume they'll adjust their sleep patterns to fit our working hours if they were successful.

Good luck with the job hunt!

That's my main plan for sending them a bit later, but its usually if I've had a busy day and only get around to applying before bed

    Thanks :D

I always send off my CV late at night too for the same reason. When they get into the office at 9am and turn on their computers it will be the first or one of the first few emails they will see. I know from my own experience that they'll probably only look through the first 20 or so emails and call people to interview from those. Nobody is going to spend all day looking through the 1000's of applications they got for the job. The first 20 will be looked at, the rest will go straight to the recycling bin.

    Ok, I gots another question!

Do you send your CV as an attachment, or in the body of the email? or both?

Generally I send a long cover letter related to the job in question and attach the CV

I was wondering that myself! I'm just about to send one off... it's not an un-godly hour though.

I often apply for jobs late at night maybe not as late as 11pm mind but no later than say 9.30pm or 10pm maybe. I find applying early in the morning, during the day is probably best but find for myself the best time to apply is in the evening's as another poster said it the be there in the employer's inbox the next day and they can check it first thing!

Cover letter is the email text, cv is an attachment.

Cover letter is the email text, cv is an attachment.

I just attach both a CV and a Cover Letter. I get more down in a Cover Letter Document than in an email. I can have my signature signed on it too.

I type in a few lines in the email, a quick opening for the Cover Letter.
