I changed the date into the future and managed to download the app.

Anyone got any ideas as to why we get an error 1004 reading prior to changing the date to the future:confused:

First off I'd try the obvious fixes
'Settings' then 'General' then 'Reset' and press 'Reset All Settings'
    If still no luck
Hold Home + power/sleep for 20seconds (until reboot)

    Lastly
Does the time and date set correctly if you choose 'set automatically'
Does changing the date format from 12hour to 24hour make any difference?

I don't fancy doing a reset of all settings tbh as I don't know what's changed back and what needs to be altered again:o

The time and date sets back correctly when set Automatically, as I tested that this morning after realising it wasn't quite October 26th just yet:D

(And the phone is not Jailbroken either - although it shouldn't make a difference I think)

This will only reset your wallpaper, ringtones, wifi password, etc
It wont delete any content, this is the 1st thing apple will ask you to do, its often the solution to hundreds of different iphone/ipad related errors, issues

Ok thanks will do this if I can't download any later on tonight.:)

Just tried updating and didn't work so went to do the reset thing, and so far so good - it seems to be downloading the update.
