    Hi folks,
We're heading to SE Asia for 3 months.
In this time, we'll spend the first month in Thailand, and the final month in Thailand, so essentially entering the country twice

I'm in the middle of filling out the form, and just want to confirm something...

    Application form: http://www.thaiconsulateireland.com/visaapplication.htm

We will be entering twice, so does that mean we need to send €80 in total? (€40 per entry)

    Any advise much appreciated

How long do you plan on spending in Thailand? If you are spending less than 30 days, you can get a free tourist exemption visa on arrival but u will need to show proof that you are leaving before the 30days. You can get another free visa when you come back to Thailand. If you enter via air, u get 30 days but if you enter via land , you get 15 days.

Just double check on this to make sure it is still the case, but definitely better than spending €80

Have never got a visa in advance when going to thailand. like above poster says its free on arrival for a 30 day stay. You'll just need the address of first place your staying and proof you're leaving after 30 days. Just head to vietnam or cambodia for a few days break if you need more time in thailand.
All of the above is assuming yr irish tho, or one of the other nationalities the free visa applies to!

We're going in total for just under 3 months, landing in Thailand 12 Novemeber 2011, and our out-bound flight is 8 Feb 2012

We'll be in Thailand - Leaving Thailand (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam) - Back to Thailand

We will certainly be in Thailand for less than 30 days on our first stint, then when we return to Thailand we will be there for 51 days

The problem is we have no way of proving that we're going to be in Thailand for less than 30 days the first time.

I think it might just be safer to buy a double entry visa?

It really is a waste of money to buy a visa. They are not that strict. Even if you have a hostel booking for somewhere else in one of the other countries when you arrive, you can show them that. Also if you go to Laos, you can get a free 60 day thai visa in Vietienne at the embassy. Loads of people do this, only takes half a day, and you can enter back into Thailand from there. Your call

It saves bother if u get a double entry visa (80e). Make sure u complete the form which is normally suppplied on the flight as this saves delays at entry. If u do not have a double entry visa u can get extension of 30 days but this costs 1900baht and is very time consuming as u will spend all day queueing.I live 3 months every year near bangkok so if i can help u let me no
