Tracer Units

I've been trying to get one of the Marui tracer units with the threaded fitting but have had no luck as everyplace that was listing them seems to have sold out. Are there any other units out there (preferably using primary batteries and not rechargeables) that are worth getting. I was also thinking of mounting a good flashlight on the gun - would this light up tracer bb's enough to activate them. Thanks

if you had an extremely high lumen torch it would work but the g&g ones are supposed to be or are better than the marui ones but if you dont want to spend that money go eith a big dragon one or madbull :)

I would advise keeping away from big dragon tracers as every person I've met has had problems with them as they are rather 'fragile'
I've been looking for a TM tracer aswell but it seems the market is fairly dry of them unless you look on US websites and even they have small amounts.
Either TM has stopped making them or is releasing a new version and just clearing off this model.

If you're using a powerful torch what possible benefit would using tracer BBs provide?

I have a G&G tracer unit and it is excellent. I can't compare it to the TM version as I haven't used one.

Chris, can you elaborate on what the TM tracer does different to/better than the G&G? I find the G&G unit to be excellent but if there's better one the market I would be interested to hear what makes it better.

We compared them at a recent night game at the tm is far brighter and lights the bbs up for much longer.we also put each unit on a high speed gun and the g&g missed a few bbs where as the tm got every single one.I'm also not a fan of the rechargeable battery in the g&g.its just another plug on top of what I already charge.on top of that the g&g died mid game.I put four good quality AAA batteries into my tm since I've had it and played a good few night games without it dying and without problem.
LAst time I checked they were around the same price too and I couldn't spend that on the g&g

    Just my opinion

What counts as a 'high speed gun'? I have used the G&G on AEGs up to 18rps and it hasn't missed one BB, I have yet to try it on my 21rps G&P Troy.

About 28rps if its the rifle I think it is :P
    18 is standard ROF really.

We put them on a upgraded m4 doing about 29bbs a second.granted it isn't the type of gun you'd bring to a night game we did it simply to find the limits of each unit.the g&g simply couldn't match the tm on single shot or full auto at all

I have a TM one and it can handle a very high rate of BBs with no issues.

Once of the guys I play with has the G&G unit and his can't hold up to rate we both put out (20-25 RPS).

He told me it seems like his only sparks every second one from a volley.

Just my view but TM is better if you can get one but G&G does the same job also. See in the end...get what you can as the market does seem to be quite dry for good named units :D

I've the big dragon/JG version. Been using it over the last 2 years without a problem. It's a clone of the TM one.
I used it at Senny a few weeks back and did notice it wasnt illuminating the bb's as brightly as the TM version - that said I think I was using 1.2V rechargable AAA batteries as opposed to 1.5V.:rolleyes:

Anyway, I'd buy a new TM if I had the money to spare... (added to the long list of "to get")

    They're great flippin fun.

The G&G seems to be a very good job also but never owned one myself.

yeah i know it defeats the purpose :P but if it was strong enough it would activate the bb :L

If it was strong enough to activate the BBs everyone would be blinded and couldn't see them anyway

Not to mention losing your night vision when lighting up with the torch.

How does the new tm stack up against the original tm one?

i love my madbull blackside tracer unit. havnt had any problems with it, so long as the batteries are fully charged (takes rechargable and disposable AAA )

I've been looking at this one. Seems to be well made, looks good and works well from the reviews.

TM all the way for me, as a test I had it illuminating 30bbs a second. Impressive stuff! They can still be got on scope and laser. About the €100 mark I think.

I hope you are luckier than me - he refunded my payment so even though the site showed it to be available it wasn't
