If you are with UPC for more than a year then give customer loyalty dept a call. I did just that and they sorted me out. Paying €65 now for 25mb broadband, phone and digital+ recorder box.

I don't what you're getting at, the OP wants to dump the UPC TV service and move to Sky but keep UPC for BB and phone.

If you see his comment, he said he doesn't have the recorder box and still paying €68. I suggested he can get it all for €65 including recorder box. Just another option.

He can definitely get sky, nothing wrong with that.

OP, I will give you their customer loyalty dept number tomorrow.

No. He's just looking for a better deal. If he can get it from his current provider then there's less hassle.

Cheers for the info guys, yes im basically looking for better value if that means getting 20 quid off with sky id happily swap but if I could maybe get something a bit better off UPC id stay with them as its handy not having to change everything :)

In a similar boat, last bill was 85 including calls. Rang up and as suggested by another thread here, told them I was leaving for Sky. Put through to different dept. Just off the phone, 50mb broadband, phone with free calls off peak, basic TV channel pack, HD and two months free Sky Sports and Sky movies. for 65 a month. Also everything free for 2 months as a goodwill gesture!

    Make that call:D

I have sky in the house and want switch from eircom to get upc for bb and phone. Do they have to do anything with the phone lines or just use the existing lines and cancel eircom?

UPC are cable TV, they don't have anything to do with eircom and the TV and internet all come down the one cable which is split and plugs into your TV or a modem that UPC give you.

But Sky does have something to do with Eircom. Sky is connected to the phone lines, I want to know if we change from Eircom to UPC willl this affect the Sky signal

You don't actually need a phone line connected to your Sky box for anything (unless ur ordering box office or something)

I've had Sky nearly 10 years, disconnected the phone line in the 1st week never had a problem

I was on UPC for everything but I changed to Sky for TV.

The UPC phone does work with the SKY boxes in Dublin.

Sky gets its signal from the dish but now and again the boxes call back to Sky on the same active phone line to confirm that they are at the same address for the multiroom discount.

UPC broadband and Phone come down the UPC TV cable and link up to a modem.

The modem has a normal phone socket on the back just like your Eircom socket on the wall.

You can change your internal house phone wires to UPC like I have and all works fine.

If your phone line is not listed you must enter a call prefix into the Sky boxes which forces the number to be sent along with the call to Sky because and number withheld call proves nothing to Sky.

If you have multiroom you need to keep the line in.

you're suppose to keep the line in but if you don't it still works perfect

Like they say you need a phone line kept in the main box, you don't actually.....you need a line to get it installed in the first place but not after that

I looked into doing this myself was going to order Sky HD with basic channels and Sky Sports and keep my UPC BB but i would lose,

multiroom as it is with UPC to keep the multiroom and the Sky HD work around 139e per month too expensive IMO.
