Minding Lillies over winter.

    I usually put old compost or ash from fire over my lillies to protect them fromt he frost and worked great except for last year. I lost them all except one and it did'nt flower this summer at all.

    So if I dig it up and divide it into pots, is this the best way to mind it this winter. If so can I do it now?
