John Moriarty (www.archtop.ie) and Gerry Haze could prob build you what you want but it will prob be pretty costly. Have you tried Warmoth? They are US based but make great quality parts for reasonable prices, got this solid rosewood neck off them a few weeks back for $212:

AFAIK the Fender custom shop won't sell you a neck on it's own. You have a couple of options, you could buy a complete CS bass where you order your spec from a Fender dealer (e.g. Musicmaker, X-music etc..), buy a used neck or buy a new neck from one of the many suppliers.

I went with option 3 when I was putting together my Jazz bass. I got a maple Mighty Mite jazz bass neck and it's excellent. It needed a small bit of fretwork but most off-the-shelf necks would.

Another option is warmoth.com which might be the best for you in terms of options and spec.

Here's what I ended up with...

    It's got...
B.Hefner alder 60's spec Jazz body with nitro sherwood green finish
Mighty Mite maple jazz bass neck
    Badass II bridge
    Hipshot ultralite tuners
    Delano pickups
    Audere JZ3 preamp
    Dunlop straploks ;)

What exactly is it that you want?

There are quite a few other custom builders out there. Some notable examples are USA Custom Guitars (who are used by quite a lot of small guitar companies!), Musikraft, B.Hefner, SIMS Custom (in the UK!)... and so on.

I dont think your gonna find something like that for cheap. Warmoth currently have this going for $453:

Its got pearloid blocks instead of abalone, but it has pearloid binding and its a nice piece of birdseye maple.

    Edit:

    Theres also this for $335:

Not as fancy wood but nice looking.

    This for $375:

    Not a bad flame.

Remember these are priced in dollars so its not as bad as it seems. For example that $375 neck is only €276.

Also don't forget shipping and taxes, but for a nice neck like that you are going to be spending big money so these prices are reasonable. Dont expect to be getting something for under 300 at least with that sort of spec.

J Bass. They are in the Warmoth Showcase, i.e necks and bodies that have been prebuilt and ready to ship.

no chance getting that neck cheaper then from warmoth.

there are other companies out there, but warmoth by far provides the most options.

youve chosen a very specific neck, and everything about it is pricey.

either drop the binding or the AAA maple. thatd save you a bundle if you dorpped just one of them.
