    Hi All.
I'm looking for opinions between 05 Octavia Vs 05 Mondeo (6spd). The main thing I'm looking for is which has the better MPG and the less possible maintenance costs.
Currently doing about 600 mls/wk (mainly Motorway) which is costing me approx €500/mth.
    Any opinions are greatly appreciated

Wouldn't say there would be too much in economy wise and both are well regarded. If was was going to be spending that long in a car I be looking for the better specced car with cruise control a must for all thiose motorway miles.

Lots of guys with Octavias rave about them but they do have their reliability problems just like the rest of the VAG diesels. The older 1.9 is seen as reliable but fairly unrefined compared to more modern diesels. Fixing them might not be cheap.

BTW Mondeo is considered to be a class above size wise to the Octavia which would be in the same class as the focus. If it was me I'd drive both and see which I prefer. Personally I have a well equipped Mondeo but both are fine cars. Mondeo men might have more knowledge on their reliability but driving wise the Mondeo is nicer imho.
