My parents have Sky multiroom, and have taken the second box over to their apartment in Spain, which is where it is currently residing. They are now back in Ireland with the Sky card but sans box. They intend to bring the card with them when they travel back and forth. Can they buy a replacement box online and have it work with their card fine, or would that present an issue of some sort?

    T.I.A..

I wouldn't think it would as long as it's a sky digital box of some kind. Donedeal.ie would be a good bet to get a cheap enough replacement box.

The card needs to be paired with the box for some services, you'll get an error on these channels if you use the card in another box.

Also, at some point, Sky will want to do a callback to check that the boxes are at the same address. When this fails they'll either send a letter warning that the boxes be connected to the same physical phone line or remove the multiroom subsidy and charge two full subscriptions.

you could buy a linux box and run oscam on it, this will read all the channels from the card including the ones that need to be paired to the receiver.

From what I understand, I think sky pair the card to the box, so I dont think it will work by just popping the card into another sky box....

The card will work for all channels except premium ones and recording.
You need to ring sky and pair the card for these to work.
The issue of call backs shouldn't be a problem if the card is only going to be out of the country occasionally.
However, do not try and pair the card when abroad, or connect the abroad box to a phone connection.
