As I have never voted in a presidential election, I am curious as to hether it is the same format as a general election. Is it based on consitituency at some level? Are there quotas involved??

Its still a single transferable vote, with the whole country as one big constituency.
The 'quota' will be 50% of all votes, + 1.

If no-one gets a quota on the first count, the lowest candidate will be eliminated and their next preferences gets the vote.
Eliminations continue until one candidate has the quota and is deemed El Presidente.
