White Walls -Light grey skirting/architrave

    Just wondering if anyone has ever tried doing this combination??

    I'm currently renovating a house and the owners want all white rooms, which (in an old house) sometimes looks a little bland. I have laid down beech laminate flooring and all the skirting/doors and architraves are all gloss white and old. The painting still has to be completed so i was thinking of trying the gray matt oil base on the skirting and architrave.

    Has anyone ever tried this? or any interior designers have any comments....

    I have the reverse, in an old house, and it looks pretty good.

    If you are in Dublin, it is worth looking at the new P Borza chip shop on Thomas St. It's a modern look the walls are painted grey and some of the detailing is white. It actually looks whiter than white in a funny sort of way.

    I think this combination will probably look silly and pointless in an old house, a repaint is one thing but if you were giving the house a complete rehaul and modernisation then it could look quite striking but if its just a rental its probably going to look out of place with ill matched and old fashioned furniture.
    If your having white wall go with a soft warm cream, something like duluxs 'antique white' in satinwood. Gloss is really old fashioned and harsh ispecially if the walls are going to be white.
