I couldn't seem to find a relevant forum, feel free to move if this isn't the right place.

Months ago, myself and my friend decided to book 3 nights in New York this November but things have changed for me a lot since then and I'm not really in a position financially and personally to go. Her boyfriend would ne happy to go instead of me and I'm wondering would we be allowed change the name on my ticket? I know its ok when its Spain etc and there is a charge buy would it be possible for the U.S? I'm pretty desperate, thanks.

Ring the travel agency / flight company you booked with and they will tell you the charges etc.

not sure if there would be a charge for a complete name change but my parents are going to NY in October and my dad only noticed last week that the name on his ticket was Jimmy, where as his passport is James, he called Aer Lingus and they changed it for him straight away, no probs & no charge for changing it.

Thanks, that sounds promising. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing something about no name changes though :/ as in change to a different person. I wonder is there any circumstance they'd make an exception :/

What airline are you flying with? Did you book a package or direct with the airline?
