Ok to use 3rd edition of the theory test books and cd?

My brother will be doing the theory test in 3 weeks and am wondering if it is okay for him to study off prior versions of the learning materials (he has the third edition of the book and CD)? Thanks.

You will need the 4th at least. In 3 weeks time, well from the 22nd of Oct you need the 5th which will be out in about 2 weeks.
