Does anyone know if these clubs are still running and have a contact for them. My licence has arrived at last after 8 months and looking for a local club I know it s not always easy to get into clubs but thought I would try my local ones first.

I have spent a good while waiting and training the dog so cant wait to get out their I have my foreshore so been doing some shooting for duck but don’t want to drive an hour every time I want to head out and keen to meet some other local shooters.

Lucan is still going, ring the nargc and they might have a contact for someone at the club.I wouldnt hold much hope of you getting in though.Your best bet is to go talk to land owners near you and ask for premission , make sure you have insurance first. This time of year they will be out working the land so it is a good time.Start off by asking them do they have any vermin problems and would they like you to help take care of it if they do.Most land owners do have a problem and once you start looking after it they dont care if you go out shooting pheasants on the land.

Drop into Pat Clintin's fishing and shooting shop there in Lucan, he will surley be able to get you some contact details for the gun clubs in the area. Best of luck.

And if you are knocking on doors for permissions as well, target the farmers with corn as they are usually happy for lads to shoot pigeon's. I have even had them offer to supply amo in the past.

There is a large population in the area and only limmited amount of land so they need to keep numbers to a limit. Its usually a case of as someone leaves the next on the list gets in. To be fair Lucan over the past say 5/8 years has expanded in a huge way. The gun club must have lost huge tracks of land as Adamstown and Laracon etc, etc were all built on gun club lands.
