    Hi all,

Quick question about putting. Do you touch the putting surface during the putting stroke or should the putter stay completely off the ground?

I've always tended to rub the grass slightly (probably to varying degrees...) roughly at point of impact and I'm wondering should I try to avoid this. Obviously I wouldn't be asking this if I was happy with my putting overall :-(

if you try and bottom out your putter stroke to just sweep the ground as you hit the ball, likely you will mess up a fair pecentage of putts as fine line between a sweep and catching the ground first, especially for such a gentle stroke...

    Shorter putter might help

Try different techniques up the practice green OP. Take advice and find what works best for you. Personally I hit the ball clean

Great help yet again to the OP opics. Boards are very lucky to have someone as smart as you as a contributing member.

Op, the simple answer is that you don't brush the grass. You'll get very close to it but don't touch it.
If you're brushing the grass thats only adding some resistance to the stroke and potentially twisting the clubface offline and/or affecting the pace. Its another variable you can do without.
