The works at Newbridge are new footbrodge with lift and ramp. Also a seperate new footbridge with footpaths each side linking to the existing footpaths. Platforms to be upgraded too. The following is copied from the Kildare Co Council Website:

"PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT ACT 2000 (Part XI) (As amended)

    PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 (PART 8)
    &
    PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2006

Pedestrian Bridge at Station Road Newbridge.

Pursuant to the requirements of the above, notice is hereby given that Kildare County Council proposes the development of a pedestrian bridge at Station Road, Newbridge, County Kildare.

The proposed pedestrian bridge is designed to provide improved access for the general public and customers of Irish Rail.

The public will access the bridge via a new footpath running parallel to Station Road.

Irish Rail customers will access the bridge from the northern platform of the station via a ramp. Access from the southern platform will be via a lift.

This development will materially affect the character of part of a proposed protected structure, Newbridge Railway Station. This structure is listed in the Draft Kildare County Development Plan 2011 - 2017 Volume 2, Appendix II, Record of Protected Structures B23-52. The part of this structure being affected by the development is known as the Lamp Room.

Ancillary works associated with the scheme will include drainage, fencing, landscaping and signage."
