very imprezif, but what they don't show in that video is that the camera car was an Octavia 1.9 Tdi with winter tyres on, kept up all the way, and a good big boot for the camera gear:D

Big difference between the WRX in the video and the 1.5 litre the OP is looking at.

To answer the OP's question thought, yes they are reliable but the 1.5 litre may be underwhelming and not the most frugal given it's 4wd. Seems very expensive too for a 4 year old example.

    One here for much less:

or a 2008 model for not much more:

The low ratio is for going slowly on low-friction surfaces, it allows much less clutch slip. The high ratio is for normal driving, ie just like any other car.

I've driven one, nice car. You need the Torquey diesel to drag the running gear along economically. The engine struggles in that one, and it's got bigger wheels than standard that won't help long term reliability.

Also, could you chose one of your threads for suggestions. There's way too many to manage at the moment. Don't think of this as being a pr1ck, keep it all in one thread and you'll get better suggestions if you outline your needs, mileage, budget;)

never seen a high and low box on a car before - hardly common?

Quite a few manual Subarus have them, i'm sure the odd other car does but apart from Subaru i've only really seen them on off-roaders.

never saw a low box on anything like an awd car, normally the preserve of propper 4x4 jeeps
