I 've an 04 Toyota Avensis,
Never gave problems before but i cant open the boot without turning the key.
There's a soft touch handle to open but its not working and i have to turn the key for the boot to pop open?
Any help would be much appreciated.

When you grab the soft touch handle, does it make a noise? If not then there must be a problem with the electrics, a blown fuse or something.

If you're hearing that clicking noise it means that the actuator should be working. Are you sure you're not locking the boot everytime you close it with the key?

    2 things:
    1) Have you tried slightly pushing down on the bootlid while grabbing the soft-touch release?
    2) Does the latch need lubrication somewhere?

This is such a common problem Im shocked it hasn't been said already, if you can hear the motor move when you press the touch pad all you need to do is open the boot with the key and PULL off the plastic cover on the boot lock and throw it in the bin!!!! Fixed! Easy!
