    Hi,
I thought that our course meeting (Computer Science) with our peer mentors was great and really much fun, unfortunately I had to leave early to get my stuff and catch a bus home. My question now is, will our peer mentors do more fun stuff with us, or is their job done now?

They should, and probably will, organise more meet ups with your group over the next few weeks. Keep an eye on your emails on Myzone because that's how they will contact you :)

It's suppose to continue anyway. I'm a peer mentor for business and language. It depends on all the people involved- mentors and mentees- keeping in touch regularly. Hope you enjoy it. :D However even if barely anyone in your course are too into it, it's okay because the mentors are still there to continue the programme even if the numbers are significantly reduced over time.

Is it usual that people drop out of the programme?

And what sort of activities will we be doing in future?

DUCSS will have stuff on for the rest of the year, that'll be your first port of call for "teh bantz".

It depends on the group and the people involved to be honest. Some people find they need the peer mentoring or find it useful and some others don't.

Activities can vary from going to lunch, heading to the pav or just meeting up on campus to see how everyone's getting on settling into college. The activities are really up to the mentor and yourselves who may raise ideas.

Hi thysol, I may actually be your mentor... Either way, I'm setting up the mailing list right now so I should have the email sent out by the end of the day. We'll be trying to organize something for every week or, at least, every fortnight for the first term of college, and that should be the norm for all Peer Mentoring groups.

I did the pilot year for the peer mentoring two years ago and we were advised to email every week or two for the first few weeks, and to organise a night out regularly. I don't think it has changed, because one of my Judo friends who's doing it this year basically said the same thing. If you have any questions your best bet is to email your mentor - that's what they're there for!!!

Sorry, just thought you were her because she told us she was doing law and I saw in one of your posts that you are doing law too.

Ah, fair enough, she's actually in my class.

Anyway, I'm sure your two will be in touch soon, they're both really nice and enthusiastic.

Just got the e-mail from one of my mentors that there's a table quiz on Wednesday evening, only problem is I'm not in Dublin on Wednesday evening, so I'm missing the first event already. I'll just stay tuned for more events.

Does anyone know how many people went to the events last week. From what I heard not many went. But maybe I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong!

What events? I only heard about the Disney quiz.

Most first years won't have any interest in s2s events, they barely even show interest in socs. I'm doing it with BESS and I doubt I'll see any of my 'mentees' again, but it's the thought that counts I guess :)

Apparantly no one showed up for that, like I mean OMG. Are you in my mentoring group (with Katherine and Karina as mentors)?

No but I did go and there was a good few people there, in fact, we struggled to find a table.

What? Our mentors told us that no one appeared. Maybe they just meant that no one from our group appeared.
