    Hi everyone,

I'm starting teaching practice next week, I have 5th and 6th class.

Does anyone have any good ideas or websites I could have a look at?

    Thanks!

Is there anything in particular you have to teach? How long is the TP?

There's lots of ideas for science on www.primaryscience.ie.

Lots of integration ideas and good resources at www.trocaire.org/resources/schoolresources as well.

The www.educationposts.ie forum has lots of ideas if you search it.

I'll post again as ideas/sites come to me.

Thanks Damarude! I have to teach all curriculum areas, so that Trocaire site will probably come in handy! It's for five weeks.

I normally look at educationposts but I thought a Teaching Practice Resource thread might be of use here too!

Anyone else have any other good websites or resources?

The themes of Water, The Environment, Recycling etc. etc. are usually good for getting material from.

Another excellent site is www.seai.ie/schools, for activities on energy conservation.

This probably is a good idea for a thread!

Best of luck on TP btw.

I had 4th class for TP last September. Can't remember my exact theme but it was based around Food and Farming. We studied milk production in Geography, made our own butter in Science, looked at old farming methods and machinery in History, Bia in Gaeilge, did a Famine related drama. Was my favourite TP to date and kids really enjoyed it!
