How on earth did they make that mistake?

It really annoys me they cant get the right plane in the shot.

"Thomson Airways maintains its aircraft to the highest standards and has an excellent safety record. The airline would like to reassure customers that incidents of this type are extremely rare and that their safety is our first priority at all times.

Two pilots cant read the chart right, theres the problem.

Having checked the images on Google maps I can see how the pilots made this error. However that doesn't excuse the apparent lack of briefing and preparation for their approach here.

By the looks of it the taxiway was a runway at some stage in the past and the overrun area could confuse you on final approach if you didn't prepare properly.

Is that a pair of Shackleton's and a Canberra off the west end of the taxiway?

    WL747 and WL757 both MR2/AEW2 machines
WR967 is/was there on the fire dump too
    Owned by Marios Ioannou
    Website is www.cyprusshackeltonparts.com

there is/was also another shackelton XF700 in the old Nicosia airport but in what condition is another thing

The aircraft behind the two Shacks is an MD Flamant

Still there on google earth but looks like a real mess, much worse than the Trident and not much better than the Tu 104 that crashed and burnt out !

Yeah happened in Cagliari with Ryanair.
However the taxiway they landed on had been used as an active runway up to 3 days before that.
    Still dosent excuse it though.
