UPC Recording Issues

I am trying to connect my UPC HD decoder to my DVD recorder in order to be able to transfer my recorded documentaries to DVD. My decoder is connected to my TV via HDMI and to my recorder via scart.

Unfortunately, I'm not getting any signal through my recorder from the decoder. I'm (pretty) sure the leads are connected properly, so could anyone here suggest what the problem might be?

    Thanks in advance . . .

Could it be that the UPC scart connection supports input only to stop you doing precisely what you want to do? What does the UPC manual say.

Possibly, I thought that might be the case initially, but I'll need to look into it.

    Thanks for the reply.

Having tried to connect the decoder directly to my TV through scart, it seems that there is no signal output through scart from the decoder.

Could anyone suggest an alternative means of getting those documentaries to DVD?

Is there a menu option on the UPC digital box where you select HDMI or SCART? It sounds like only one can be active at a time if there's no signal coming through the SCART.

I thought of that earlier and tried to find such an option in the menu, but I failed to come across any option to switch between them.

    Thanks for your reply.

The scart-output will work, but you have to disconnect the HDMI cable from the tv in order to get a signal. I use this method when I want to watch a second tv which is located 'around the corner' from my main tv. If I have both scart & HDMI connected I only receive sound on the second tv, but when I disconnect the HDMI I get both sound & picture.

I don't know if this would be of any help, as it describes how to record from the standard digital+ box. Seemingly, you can do this by actually playing (as in watching on tv) & recording as described HERE You may want to give it a try by disconnecting the HDMI cable from both the tv & UPC box..

Cheers, Jeckle - your help is much appreciated. I'll try that.
