Thinking about getting this to expand to 16 channels, anyone used one before or have any comments about it? :):)

I have one..its grand for the extra channels..been half thinking of modding it at some stage, put transformers on the inputs..ah, i will at some stage..
I'd recommend it..its great for the price..

One of Behringers best products. I got one to expand to 16 and its been a great investment.

I can stick the drums through 1 - 8 of my Focusrite and use the ADA8 to do guide tracks for the rest and then re record using the Focusrite, in essence you are not losing quality but you are gaining functionality. Grand box.

+1 for this piece of kit. In terms of value for money, there is nothing else out there in this price range that offers 8 ADAT channels/pre amps. I used one via a Digi 003 rack to mic my acoustic drums and can honestly say the (sonically) the ADA preamp chain was virtually identicle to the (much more expensive) 003 chain. I later upgraded the ADA to a Focusrite Octopre (2-3 times more expensive than the ADA) and heard no noticeable improvement.

The lesson for me was that unlrss you're going to spend a grand or more on an 8 channel unit, the ADA is as good as (or better) than the other budget gear out there.

Without a shadow of a doubt Behringer done this one right, ADA8000 is a faultless product tbh.

I have one. I use it for guides and talkback.
I find the gain control very hard to set on it. All the useable "range" is right at the top of the control so there is a tiny movement between too low and clipping.
Works ok though but I would never use it for an actual track.
Very handy for getting extra inputs through ADAT.

It's good. Except that it's really only 16 bit, because it's a tad noisy, due to the slightly dodgy way the pre amps are done. There was a discussion with circuits in the DIY section on SOS forum, too lazy to look for it in the new forum layout now.

If i get one of these in from the states is there any issues with voltage difference on this piece of kit and how can i fix it? :)

You'll need a step down transformer I'd imagine. If ya go plugging in american gear to our outlets you'll blow yer gear.

Probably cheaper on Thomann, or ebay.de!

From US you'll have the following extra costs:
    1. Step down transformer, about EUR30.
    2. Customs duty: 21% of value and shipping counted together;
    3. Post office handling fee for customs EUR5.

    Nein.

A 45 watt one will be more than enough, and you can secure it for half that price easily.

Jaysus, you can get this one shipped for a tenner from the UK:

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/STEP-DOWN-VOLTAGE-CONVERTER-240V-120V-45V-USA-UK-/260480851224?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_PowerAdaptors_SM&hash=item3ca5de5d18#ht_2590wt_1139

Hehe, these ones are shipped for less than a fiver from HK,
but Id say youd shatter the plastic casing just by squeezing the fecker:

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/50W-Voltage-Converter-Adapter-220V-240-110V-120V-31-/110690008158?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_PowerAdaptors_SM&hash=item19c5a37c5e#ht_1524wt_905

You'd obviously need to spend an additional euro on a 2pin -> 3pin mains plug.

And the first one has 23 negatives in the past month... there's a reason why it's that cheap...

The Seller has received 21 negatives in the past month for other products,
    this product hasn't received one.

It's the exact same as the one you'll pay 30 euro for in maplin,
without the maplin logo painted on, both the case and inside.
Its just a generic model that is mass produced in China,
I have been using the exact same for a good while now, with various equipment and I couldn't fault it.

OK, but the only point I'm making is that it will probably cost more from the US than in the EU. Not as much more as I estimated, granted. And who said Maplin- I would never recommend buying from them if it's avoidable! :)

Hehe, i thought you got the 30 euro price in your head from maplin.

Was only pointing out the cheaper price, definitely not worth buying it from the states.
