Disk drive problem

So my 4gb xbox 360 slim wont read disks anymore. It just says open disk after a few seconds. It has warrenty until December but can I bring it into gamestop and get a replacement or will I have to ring Microsoft. Can anyone tell me what the repair process is like and how long it takes?. Just got Gears 3 and cant even play…
