Hi just wondering what people think of this route. I know there's a lot of information available but just finding it hard to get specifics. Basically I'm considering this route cause I've heard that the cap exams have become even more difficult recently and I'm not exactly an accounting whiz. How hard have these exams become? What are the major differences job prospect wise between cap and acca?

What additional benefits would I have from doing both sets of exams? And what exemptions for acca would I have if I did the accounting technician exams?

Also, I seem to have missed the deadline dates for the accounting technician registration, would I have hassle getting in at this stage?

Whats the situation with social welfare payments while doing these exams?

Sorry for scattered long winded post, any information would be great, thanks.

I'm going to limit my response to suggesting that if you want to become a fully qualified accountant do that - skip the technician stage.

Thanks for the advice, think I'll go this route. I'm exempt from F1 and F2. I was considering doing F3 and F4 in December. I'm familiar enough with the F3 stuff from college already so thought I might take on the F4. Do you think Id have enough time by the time I get registered and get going with study? Thanks

I think you've left it late for courses, but you could do these two on your own by then.

the op is doing ACCA not CAT exams so think it be a step backwards to do the IATI exams

Look at the 5th line of the OP's question

Thanks for replies folks going to go straight into acca. If I'm doing F3 and F4 at home is there any real deadline applying for December exams? Planning on sending off all my details in next few days.

edit: damn it just saw this http://www.bpp.com/contact-us/international-study-centres/ireland/professional-qualifications/acca-home/exams--registration.aspx. Would they be strict with all these dates? At this rate i might just have to do 4 in june, would really like to do a couple in december!
