    Hi all,

Got my letter of confirmation from my local grant office today! Just wondering if I have this right or am I forgetting something?
Do I just bring my letter to the fees office and get some form off them and fill that in?

Does anyone know if this form is available online or out on the table beside the fees office, just wondering if I should have it filled in before I go in to the office?

    Thanks

Ya you must bring the cover letter confirming your grant to the SAA. They open at 9.30 so I suggest you get there at the latest 9.30 (that isn't a typo) as there will already be a queue at that stage but won't be too long. As you queue, to your left you will see the pigeon holes with different forms. One of them is a grant form, its yellow. Its basically a form for you to give them your bank details, so make sure you have them. The bank account must be in your name. It will ask you for your sort code, A/C number, address of the bank branch, pretty sure thats all. The SAA will take the yellow form off you and take a copy of the confirmation letter. They will probably give you a printed letter confirming you are a student in UL but you don't even need that so don't worry if they don't give you it.

And obviously make sure you return the second page with your signature to your local authority. SAA don't need a copy of that.

Thanks so much for your reply! My course is pretty much 9am every day so I'm probably going to have to deal with those queues on my half day as that's the only time I'll have to go over!

Just want to clarify that it's saa I go to? Sorry I thought the it was the fees office and I assumed they were separate?

Do you happen to know what time they close at? And do they close for lunch?

Ya the SAA. SAA hours are 9.30am - 12.30am & 2.30pm - 4.30pm. The Fees Office is the same except they start later. 11.00am if memory serves me correct.

I went to SAA and dropped it in. For all I know they pass it on to the Fees Office. You're not wrong going to the SAA anyway. You can go to the Fees Office first if you want and ask. There are never queues for that and its right beside the SAA.

I had to go to the Fees Office on a separate issue which was to do with getting the Student Contribution refunded (€2000) which I had paid already as I didn't think I was going to get the grant.

    Hi all !
This Grant business is very complicated...for a first year student! I applied for a grant in August...am still sending in forms that they already have...don't ask why. Anyway what I would like to know is... when you are awarded (if eventually it happens!) do you get back some of the €2072 euro paid when taking up the place (I know it isn't 2072 for every student...it depends on the course...mine was 2072) Clarification..if anyone can give it..would be appreciated...also did people receive their first grant payent already...:? and when is the second round due?

Yea if you get the grant you'll get the €2000 back. First round has gone out and second due around now. Don't worry though you'll still receive the full thing whenever they do award it to you.

And don't fret even if when you're awarded the grant you don't receive the payments right away. I was awarded the grant in October last year, didn't receive any money until May. :pac:

But yes, you will get 2000e back. The 72e is a levy that UL charges AFAIK. It goes to the SU I think, to help provide services like Stables, Paddock, Spar, etc.
