In two minds about which car to pick. They both are coming up the same price and love the finish on the s-line. Apart from the look and cheaper tax would ye have any advice as to which is the better car?

The 1.6 isn't quick at all the 2.0tdi 140 is exactly what the car needs on the motorway - an 07 wouldn't have a DPF so your not going to come up against that issue. If you don't mind the extra bit of tax why not go for the diesel
Was their leather on either cars?

Some of the 2.0 tdi engines are very troublesome and are to be avoided due to v large repair bills. Im sure someone here will have exact details for you re engine codes etc.

I believe those 2.0 diesels had major problems. Not sure if it affects the Audi's but I think it did..

When in doubt, ALWAYS go for the more powerful one.

Yes that particular car would be affected. A quick call to HQ of VW in Dublin would clarify it though.

The 105bhp is a 1.9 tdi diesel! Yes the sline has leather interior

Oh God didn't hear anything about the 2.0 engines. I better go with the 1.9 105bhp so as the last thing I want after forking out that cash is a hefty bill for repairs. 105bhp would be slow enough but I am moving up from a 1.4l 75bhp so anything will be an improvement :)

BTW I think some of ye are confused both cars I was talking about were Audi A3's

You'll notice a nice difference between the 1.4 petrol and the 1.9 diesel. Way more pulling power at low revs. It's actually a grand engine for most driving.

So after all I purchased a 1.9tdi and I love it. Just back again now to ask if any of you know when a timing belt should be done. The car has 66,000 miles and I am suspecting that it could be due soon :D

AFAIK it's 60k miles/5 years - it'll say in the service book. You do have a service history, don't you? :)

I do yes. I better go and have a look so :confused::confused:
I thought you got a bit more out of a diesel but I think we have established that I am not an expert ;)

Only some (probably tiny percentage) of us are experts, the rest makes mistakes and comes back here for answers. After spending that much on a nice car, i would definitely do timing belt if it is due, or if you are not 100% sure it is done.
