We should create a massive forest park somewhere, move everyone out
It could a great amenity and tourist arraction.

Maybe that's a good topic for another thread.

Should we create a mega forest park in Ireland and if so why and where?

Should Ireland create a mega-national park?

Should ireland expand one of the national parks
Ireland is one of the least denisty populated countries in Europe.
Should Ireland expand to create a huge national park even if it means moving people and destroying some farms and villages.
According to wiki() only 0.8% of Ireland is national park, one of the lowest
contrast that with the slovkia with 7.5% or hungary with 5.2%
This national park could be a great centre for tourism, amenities and biodivertsy
We could reintroduce all sorts of wildlife we have lost.

    Which park could we expand?
    How big should we go?
    Is it worth it?

Completely off the wall there! It's extreme notions like this that give Nature lovers a bad time. It's totally impractical and detracts from what really needs to be done to improve the bio-diversity of this island.

Statements like that don't help your argument bud:confused:. On the bigger issue there certainly is an argument for wetland habitats like the Shannon Callows, Tacumshin and Turlough areas etc. to be brought into the NP system since they are currently seriously underepresented, as the majority of our few NP's are confined to small upland areas:(

    Thread locked
The 3 replies give a flavour of how a pie in the sky notion this is.

Cork boy, if you feel the thread still has merit and would like it unlocked, please PM your case to me for my consideration

    EDIT
I've moved some posts to here from another thread, hence the apparent duplication.
