I have a dual boot linux mint and xp system with grub bootloader. I dont use the dual boot so I want to get rid of it. How do I complete wipe everything off this drive so I can then put just a single operating system on it?

no need to format anything, i'm guessing you want to just run xp ? all you need do is, re-write the windows mbr over grub, then delete the linux partition, you can do this from inside xp, you can then expand the windows partition to reclaim the space, mint was using,

ah ok, just pop in the disc or what ever you using, let the installer do its thing, you'll get to a screen, click advanced, there will be an option to delete and format the current partitions, delete them all, till all you have is "free space", then click format, and that'll make a clean ntfs partition for you to install to... :o
