River Island delivering to Ireland?

So I was in shopping in River Island yesterday and I was looking for a particular item which they didn't have so the sales assistant told me to go online and to order it that they are now delivering to Ireland apparently since about 2 weeks ago.

However, I have just been on the website, signed up etc.. and there is no option for any other country in the drop down menu in the delivery address box except for the United Kingdom.

Was this sales assistant telling a wee white lie??

I saw the same thing on FB the other day, apparently they are delivering from this Monday (26th Sept).

I asked on the official R.I Facebook, but didn't get a response.

Just rang the store I was in there thinking that she may have made a mistake but no, it is true! Apparently it was up & running and she said just to keep trying it but il take your word on it that it will begin on Monday....CAN'T WAIT!!

In the process of purchasing at item on Topshop at the moment and the stupid mastercard securecode page where u have to create a password & re-enter it, when I click 'submit' nothing happens! Grr....maybe its a sign I should stop shopping so often!

I just registered and account with R.I after seeing your post and as you say they don' deliver online to Ireland, it says on my a/c that they only deliver to U.K addresses.

What shop was it you phoned? I'll try another store and see what they say.

I've never purchased online with Topshop (I only ever buy in store when they have sales!) so can't help with that I'm afraid. :(

Well i was in limerick so just rang that store, ilac centre is probably the best one to ring i would imagine though seeing as its the biggest store.

Im actually quite excited about it as the uj prices are way lower especially when it comes to their shoes.

Also just their 20% student shop in is in a couple of weeks so definitely going to that even though im finished college, il borrow my sisters student card, im sure she wont mind! Hee hee :-)

I would have rang the UK number if I had seen the thread earlier  Do any of you have twitter, they might reply to a tweet?

I have twitter but i really cant get into using it at all, dont even know how the tweets work or how to do them!

I actually rang the ilac store thinking they would still be open but they were closed but a lady did actually answer, she wasnt too sure though. She just said to me that its being sold on ASOS (which we know already) so wasnt really helpful with regards their own online store. Hmm....

I don't use twitter either.....The collection on ASOS isn't very good at all, they never have the items I want.

I hope they do start delivering here though, online shopping has ruined me, I HATE going clothes shopping now, I just don't have the patience for it at all!

I enjoy shopping and trying on clothes etc but this would be very handy especially for sizes or items that our local store may not have. And plus the prixes are cheaper too although im sure they will change this and add in a euro pricing scheme.

I worked in River Island for a few years so I have friends who still work there and I was talking to one of them a few days ago and I was saying how funny it was that well over a year ago, we were told to tell customers that RI would be delivering to Ireland soon and yet it never happened. He said that he had been told recently that RI definitely did have plans to deliver here, but that the date for the launch kept being put back. So I guess it is something they are working on... just verrrrry slowly!

Hopefully they won't do that because most of their rival retailers charge in sterling, Topshop/New look/Miss Selfridge etc.

Yes this is true but their rivals also have student discount, something river island should adopt as im sure their revenue would significantly increase by doing so!

Completely seconded. The price up is insane here, especially for places like Topshop and the like. If they started converting prices, I would just die.

The mark up is actually scandalous, especially for topshop and miss selfridge. I tend to drive up north sometimes instead of dublin. Better prices and i dont have to pay ridiculous car park charges by going to the city centre!

Waaaahhh.....still no joy!! :-(....What the hell is going on?? Grr....I don't understand how an international company can only deliver to the UK. There one of the biggest brands, I can't fathom it at all. Every other business that I can think of, delivers internationally.

Also forgot to mention in my last post. Anyone going to go to River Islands student night shop ins?? I'm actually considering driving to the one in Belfast next Tuesday. My main reason is the prices - much lower than here.

You can buy some River Island clothes from Asos and they deliver to Ireland for free. Asos have a River island page somewhere on the site.

Yes this is true but wouldn't it be great if they offered the FULL collection instead of a few hand picked items.

Finally we can buy River Island and not be ripped off! The difference in price between Irish and English Stores was unbelievable. The exchange rate is really good at the moment. Buying in sterling will save a small fortune!

A lot of clothing companies inflate their prices when they charge in euros. A good example is French Connection, the comparison is unbelievable. I always buy in Sterling where possible. Karen Millen used to allow me buy in sterling but when I put in an Irish address these days they change it to euro. I saw a bag I liked in River Island a week or two ago and I think it was €50 or €55. I see the bag online in sterling and when converted back to euro it works out to be €34/35. Where possible buy in Sterling! Just keep an eye on the exchange rate but in the last few years I reckon I have always shaved at least afew euros off if not more by buying in Sterling!

If you pay by Laser then you can only purchase in Euros, but if you use another card/payment methed (PayPal etc) you can pay in Sterling.

This is great news alright but unfortunately for me there was a pair of grey boots that were on sale a few weeks back and they didn't have the size in Opera Lane or Mahon Point in Cork so I was thinking oh maybe they have them online but they don't:( They're gone! They were so nice an all!

I ordered a few things last Thursday and they give you a link to track the order. I had a look and it says the carrier is DPD, if that's any help. :)
