Social Welfare told me it is never given out until late October/early November, to avoid granting €500 to students who take the money and run. It's a pain, I know, since we need to get all our equipment straight away, not two months after we start. But that's what I've been told.

What is the amount per week for BTEA.

I got 125 this week last year i was getting 188 per week. Did the amount drop.

The amount for BTEA is meant to be the same as whatever you were getting on your social welfare payment. If you were gettting €188 on JA/OPFP/DA directly before you switched to BTEA, you should still be getting it.

its actually not, if you're getting the lower rate then once youre accepted for btea it should go up to the highest rate which is 188. Says it on the site. Also, I wasnt paid the full 188 yet, which is very annoying, they just havent bothered to change it in the systems yet.

Oh really? My bad, that's what they told me - recommended I move out of home so I'd be entitled to the full amount. Then I suppose they're not well known for giving good information =/

Yeah I had to go in last week because the nice lady at the PO told me there was no payment due to go into my account this week, and I thought I'd double check that I was getting BTEA tomorrow. They didn't even have an approved application for me, despite me handing all in 4 weeks prior! Still a nervous wreck thinking I might not get it tomorrow, rent is due :(

yeah it's bloody ridiculous!! Im in same situation as you, except i was told i was accepted and my payment was supposed to be in my account last week, but there was only 100 euros there! tried ringing them everyday since and they never answered the phone once, looks like im gonna have to go into them to get an answer! if its not there tomorrow i dont know what ill do :(

Yeah, I'm in a lot of trouble if it isn't there, three times my rent has been late because of these guys, I don't think my landlord can take any more. I get why they need to stall on the 500 quid, although God knows I need it, but the least they could do is get the payment in on time.
