Does teaching fetac disadvantage secondary school teachers looking for work?

Hi all, I'm hoping some teachers will be able to answer a question thats been nagging me for awhile...

As a NQT, I took a job teaching Fetac Level 5 Maths. I hoped that this job would solve my financial problems and give me some much needed experience in my subject area. I feel that teaching adults has definately improved my teaching skills and allowed me to test out the project maths methodology without the usual discipline issues.

However my time teaching Fetac Level 5 Maths cannot count towards my Teaching Council experience. As a result I was not able to return to this job in September and I'm currently looking for a position in a secondary school.

My question: is my experience in the adult education sector actually a disadvantage now that I'm looking for work in secondary school? I ask this because I have been called to very few interviews this summer, compared with the summer after I had qualified. Also interviewers rarely asked me about my experience or the content covered in these fetac courses...

It might just be the economic climate, but I'd be interested to know how principals and teachers view teaching experience in the adult education sector. Any insight would be really appreciated.
