So is anyone using one and if so how do you find it?

What apps do you find useful?

Some of the ones I have found useful are iStudiez Pro, Notes Plus, Dropbox and Goodreader along with the Kindle app for books.

Quite impressed with Kindle thus far, have been able to obtain my first two known books (one bought and the other on a rental which I think is a fabulous idea and saves money).

Anyone using a keyboard or just the on-screen one?

Well feel free to add your College experiences.

Not using it for college but for work, particularly when travelling or on training courses.

QuickOffice is a good MS Office compatible app that allows you to create Word and Excel-style documents with limited formatting. There is also PPT functionality too but that's even more limited.

I find Audiomemos very useful for recording teleconference calls or face-to-face meetings, might be good for recording lectures if you sit near the front of the hall...

Dropbox and Box.net are compatible with QuickOffice on the iPad :)

I just use the on-screen keyboard but am considering getting a folio with built-in keyboard soon.

I have one, forget writing notes on it. I really can't make it work and I've tried about 10 stylus's. Typing would be better with a keyboard in my eyes.

To be honest, a laptop still beats it.

If your not taking notes, it is great for reading PDFs.

Find it very handy for college. Great battery life and portability. Been able to pull all my notes online through Safari and ready them easily. Have iStudiez Pro myself and it's a great app for timetables and schedules etc.

Same as myself - I bought Pages, which does the trick in meetings. Especially because my work laptop is a POS that only gets about 40 minutes on the battery, so I hate undocking it.

I still can't consider it a laptop replacement though.

I've one. It's OK - certainly better than the onscreen keyboard, but not as good as a netbook keyboard. It trebles the size, but it's still relatively portable.

The other option is to get the Apple bluetooth keyboard.

Works well with it and it is a very nice keyboard.

When you dont need a keyboard you just leave it at home.

Aye, I have been meaning to checkout QuickOffice. I find Notes Plus fine for just typing notes during class. The app also does recording as you type or stylus your notes so covered there. As regards the keyboard I find the on-screen ok if you use 2 finger typing in portrait although I am considering the bluetooth with one of these

I have a Kensington virtuoso and find it ok but typing is much faster. Goodreader for PDFs is brilliant.

Agree with iStudiez - very handy app to have and keep track of things.

Is Pages worth €7.99? Tried it on a demo model and wasnt exactly blown away. I thought it would have had more features. No dropbox support stopped me from purchasing it.

What is battery life like on the keyboard? I imagine it will drain the iPad also with bluetooth switched on.

Nope - I should have done more research! Lack of dropbox support is annoying - I ended up setting up a free WedDAV account so I could sync files properly. I think I'd be as well off just using the mail program to take notes and just email them to myself.

I have the keyboard since I got the iPad in may and it still has the same batteries.

I am not sure about the iPad battery life but you will have the same problem with any bluetooth keyboard.

when iOS 5 comes you won't need it, Have been using Documents in the cloud here for the last few weeks and it's amazing.

do presentation on imac, go to projector plug in ipad, open up pages, bam the document i was working on my imac is just right there on ipad.

I used it for college, but tbh without the safari download plug in and iFile I would have found it useless.
