Just saw this and it gave me a laugh. In a presidential poll on breakingnews.ie
an inanimate carbon rod is currently in second place, just behind David Norris.

As it currently stands:

David Norris - 18.67%
Inanimate Carbon Rod - 18.3%
Martin McGuinness - 16.25%
