    Called "6405" at the moment.

    BBC Parliament (10788 V 22000 5/6) is 10307.

    BBC Alba (10818 V 22000 5/6) is 10357.

Move now complete. These 3 channels are no longer on frequency 11.954H (27.5, 2/3).

Plus it should be noted that the 7 BBC streams at 12.441V (3.0 to 3.6) are being moved to 11.954H. Also the BBC are closing 2 of these streams, so only 5 will remain. Move due to occur sometime this week. 12.441V will then be closed on 7 October.

People who have these streams stored on FTA receivers will have to retune to continue to get them. Also BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament will have to be retuned.

    Info at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2011/08/red_button_dsat_astra.html

EDIT: UK FTA tuning sticky may need updating.
Further edit: done by marclt. Thank you! (and thank Paddy C too).

    When testing?

6405 no longer has a picture, just a blue screen. However BBC News (properly named) is now at 10.803H

Yes but one sees stuff like this appearing for months/years on end with duplicates feeds of channels available on other frequencies

True. You'd think these duplicates would be removed, especially off Astra 2D, considering the demand for space on it. Interesting to see what happens when 1N is up and running in a few weeks time.

What satellite are those new transponders on? Can't find anything on Astra 2A or Eurobird 1:confused:

They're on 2D, where you'd expect to find BBC stuff.

i know this might sound stupid but..

i have been trying to add channels to my sky box and to activate it you have to press the yellow button on your sky remote. but my yellow button is broke, is there any other way of adding channels without using the yellow button?

Thanks, Peter. Only problem is that my Ferguson Ariva dose'nt list that satellite. However I still get them all on 2A.

My understanding (pls correct me if wrong) is that these are only additional 'labels' for existing Video/Audio streams and not actually using any more transmission space on the Sat. So the labels you see with names such as ETV1 or G49 are in fact using the same video/audio PID numbers as the regular channel which is named correctly. It's just that most FTA receivers show every channel name even if the parameters are duplicates.

Oops, I edited an older version of the table instead of the newer one! I have amended it and re-sent it to Marc to change! Apologies!

Are you sure about that? According to Lyngsat and my Freesat box they are 100% correct.

    If these are right, then why can't we tune C4HD in to 'other channels' on a Sky Box? CHANNEL 4 HD - 12.607 - V - 27500 - 3/4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Rick_

Could be a problem with the Sky box or the software, but the tuning details are definitely correct so the problem lies elsewhere.

Because the TP its on uses DVB-S2 which the Sky box doesn't recognise when in the "add channels" menu. It can however decode DVB-S2 if the channel is in the EPG

    BBCi frequency changes:

    11.954 H 27500 2/3

    6711 Stream 3.0
    6712 Stream 3.1
    6713 Stream 3.2
    6714 Stream 3.3
    6715 Stream 3.6
This completes BBC's scheduled frequency moves. (They are reducing costs by using one less widebeam transponder)

Sorry for being late getting back to you. I have the channels on that sat edited down to the bare minimum. If I recall correctly, I did a single channel search, i.e Astra 2A, and did it as a blind search. I'm not going to redo it as its a right bitch to delete them all again:D

@ Mike 1972, re your latest 'controversial' sig., if you left out the '?' would that be what is known as an oxymoron?

@ Mike 1972, re your latest 'controversial' sig.

I thought this forum was for discussing satellite TV ?

If you have an issue with my sig take it up with one of the moderators.

Not an issue, it just reminded me of 'enjoy <insert alcohol brand> responsibly'.

I'm no expert in this, but my understanding is that ETV (‘Enhanced TV’ video streams) labelled as ETV on BBC or G49 on ITV etc are used in the red button services on Sky/Freesat. Some of the ETV streams are in the mosaic form with multiple video on screen and the audio PID is changed as you scroll to each video.

Someone with a bit more knowledge can step in here now!

Are the "STREAM x.x" feeds also BBC or someone else ?

They are paired to Sky cards, they can't go fta on satellite (28.5e) due to rights issues and costs tied to viewing figures when they buy tv shows. This can be picked up all over Europe

They will be fta on SAORSAT soon but broadcast from a different satellite which has a tight beam centred on Ireland, there's a thread about it.

can u get european channels on sky freq?

It's not altogether clear what your asking here.
Probably would have been best to start a thread in Foreign satellite section.
"Sky Frequencies" are received from Astra 2 @ 28.2E.
More popular European stations are usually received on Astra 1 @ 19.5E or Hotbird 13E, & may use the same frequencies as skyas they are on a different satellites does not pose a problem.

and remember sky use a CLOSED box, that means it has restricted symbol rates and you will not pick up many channels.
