Damage done to eyelid by eyebrow wax yesterday

I went to get an eyebrow tidy and trim yesterday.......probably should have insisted that she use a tweezers but as I was also getting a waxing job done some wax was also used on my brow. I have had my brows waxed before with no problems.

It seems that the beautician went down too far on my eyelid with the wax. It was not noticeable until a few hours later when one eye puffed up completely (looked like I had walked into a door!). I placed an icepack on it but it didn't help that much.
Today the redness has disappeared but my eyelid is still very puffy and tender. There are also 3 noticable marks just over my eyesocket.

I'm wondering if this was just a bad job or if i had some sort of reaction to the wax and what can I do to relieve the tenderness?

This sounds like a case of a bad wax job - the puffiness is because the skin wasn't held tight enough (very hard to do on your eyelid because the skin is so sensitive and thin... really she shouldn't have gone so low down onto your lid) and it's traumatised from being pulled. If it was a reaction to the wax, you would have it all over the area she was working on, not just the lid, and it would have been more rashy. Treat it like you would a bad bruise (I'm quite surprised you haven't had bruising tbh!) and leave it alone (if it were me I would be poking and prodding at it but resist temptation!) - it should clear itself up in a few days.

Thanks Lorebringer: It felt like she had held the skin quite taut but obviously you can't see when you are just lying there.
It was pretty embarrassing having to go back into work later after it happened and as I said it is just so tender at the moment :(

Sounds like a bad wax job to me.

I get my brows waxed all the time and have never had a problem like this.

The salon I go to ask you to keep your eyes closed until they are finished, to avoid any accidents with the eyes.

Did your beautician ask you to keep your eyes closed?

After I get my brows down, I use this aloe vera gel on them, it cools them down and I find it helps a lot.

I have the 35ml and paid around €6 euros for it in the salon I go to, but you could get it cheaper online tbh.

Purple Bobbin: I've had my brows waxed several times before at other salons and 3 times at this salon. I've never had a problem before. I did have my eyes closed but i reckon the wax was just spread too far down on the lid.. The marks I noticed yesterday now look more like bruises tonight. Thankfully I wasn't attending any wedding or other function as it now looks quite nasty.

I will try and get hold of some aloe cream tomorrow. Thanks for the tip :)
