A bit of a sad outlook. While I have my suspicions of certain athletes I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt (unless it is so blatently obvious).

Anytime I have doubts I think of Paula Radcliffe. She holds possibly one of the strongest world records (errrr..world best?) in the sport, and I would bet every last penny on her being clean.

Fair enough. I'll remove all of my post as it was all speculation.

interesting article but i agree with the previous post its a bit negative. Guilty until proven innocent is not really the way it should go

It must be said that Radcliffe catapulted from an also-ran on the track to hit performances in marathon that are out of reach..

    Ehhh?

She was twice World Cross Country Champion (along with 3 times silver medallist and once a bronze medallist), twice World Half Marathon Champion, World Silver medallist over 10000m, 4th in the Sydney Olympics in (at the time) one of the fastest 10000m races of all time. Then won European 10000m gold in 2002 in a European record.

The marathon is a different event to the track. She moved up and clearly took to it like a duck to water. Same thing with Catherina McKiernan. Catherina was very average on the track but when moving up to the marathon ran the fastest ever debut marathon of all time.
