    Hi,

I would like to buy an adapter/card to enable WiFi on my desktop. I have a 4Meg broadband connection so it would need to be on the fast side.Any recommendations greatly received as it seems to be a bit of a minefield.

    Many thanks.

Wireless connections are susceptible to interference if it is at all possible I would stick to cable for the desktop.

Otherwise you can get a PCI wireless card which you slot into a spare PCI slot on the motherboard or you can get a USB wireless adapter.

The slowest wireless is considerably faster that 4mbs.

Your best bet is a wireless usb adapter. That way you don't have to open the pc and you can add a bit of flexibility by connecting it via a usb extension lead which will allow you to experiment a bit with position if necessary.

    Just an example:

Many thanks for that. I went for a USB unit and it works a treat. Very surprising considering its size and cost {2Oeuro}.
    :)
