I found my job by ringing a company and asking them if there was anything going, I had been laid off and was lucky to get a 6 month contract that has been extended (fingers crossed!). As you can see from my user name, not a good industry to be in. But also consider using linkedin and using your network as much as possible - a lot of jobs are not advertised.

Just walk in as say "who's in charge?"

    When someone replies 'me'

Then you go 'I want to your boss'

If he/she goes 'I am the boss' then you hand him/her the CV

    Easy.

Google the company, find the managers name, and send them a latter with your CV with a cover letter addressing them.

Seriously tho.. Go in with a CV to whereever.

Ask politely for the Manager if they are available.
When Manager comes, apologise if your wasting their time while working, and ask are there any positions available.
Depending on what they say...tell them you think you may have the necessary strenghts and experience for a position in whatever your applying for.
If you've no experience, tell them you are reliable and willing to learn.

Calling into a place looking for work is FAR more beneficial then applying for a job online.
People like to put a face with a CV.

    Goodluck
