    Yes. I covered 700 miles.

Did you drive the Lancer when you put in petrol? How many miles did you cover?

131k miles is not high mileage on a 99 car at all...

    Also...driving uses petrol...

How much did this 'full tank' cost you...my guess is a tenner

Does your fuel filler have a properly working lock on it?

The car didn't use the petrol in only 60kms. It's pretty much impossible.

It has either been robbed from the car or the car has a leak

So it was never a full tank to begin with...it takes me a tenner to get to Blanch and back too in a 1.6

Be grand to mention that I go from Tallaght to Blanch and back usually :pac:

Makes the tenner seem so much more expensive

First of all, that's not true...and second of all, your car is nowhere near high mileage!

You have either completely underestimated how many miles you have covered, have a leaking fuel tank or your tank of petrol was robbed.

If that much petrol was entering the engine it would be flooded and wouldn't start.

Fill the car with a FULL TANK, reset the trip computer and measure the miles covered until empty then refill the tank and use the refill amount to calculate your MPG using an online calculater.

I had one of them 1.3 lancers before and they are great on petrol, an absolute dog on the move but great on petrol and reliable to.

    this thread is epic.

"my car is using lots of petrol"

so does mine when i use it lots.

as midnight and john said, its either leaking or has been stolen. 60kms (40 miles) to empty the average full tank would be using a liter per mile roughly speaking and this is just not possible, the engine wouldn't run.
