Good estate €4K ? (?)(?)(?)

€4000, couldn't afford to spend a penny more. I took a look at a 02 SAAB 9-5 Vector Aero. €3,250. Carroll & Kinsella in Dublin. Its a 2.0L petrol with 133.000 miles on it. I really was going to buy it there & then until I asked about the mileage. I'm planning on keeping it for about 3-4 years so by the time I'm finished with it it will have mad mileage on it.

Not a lot of good estates like the SAAB around. I'm looking for something different, not like your normal Focus or Mondeo. And preferably petrol.

I know it was the same as in an old 320D, not sure about the 520d though.

It has a different turbo so doesn't give any of those issues which plagued certain 320ds

I wouldn't let mileage turn you off it's not THAT much in 9 years to be honest. A good service history would be essential though. As for the car you have linked I'm fairly sure it's not a proper Aero although I could be wrong. It looks clean and well specced though.

As for options though you could get this with some serious haggling. Lovely colour too..

The only two difference I've ever known were the turbo (mitsubishi unit AFAIK) and a slight detune so it wasn't in direct competition with the 320D.

Have I missed anything?

The mileage on this ain't too bad. The engines are fairly strong, my brother has a golf with the same engine at 160k and apart from a clutch replacement it's been trouble free.

If you're going to put high mileage on it, buy one with high mileage. It makes no sense to pay over the odds for a low mileage car that you are going to turn into a high miler. Buy high, keep high, save money :P
