Jury Duty Question

I realise that this is considered a duty of a citizen. However, I'm in a job less than a month and still on probation (this is after a very long period of unemployment) and I don't want to jeopardise my chances at securing permanent employment.

Would this be considered an acceptable reason to be excused?

Possibly, you need to call the clerk of the court and explain your situation.

I'd to do this a few years ago as I was called for jury duty while working in the North and I needed to be excused, I explained that if I had to do it, 40 other people would have to change their schedules, along with me being out of the country and was excused.

    Interesting...

I technically work for a company in the North but my main base is Australia.

Is it possible that I could get jury duty and not even find out about it?

I imagine the North uses the electoral register to compile jury panels. Are you on the register?

If you on the register, but not resident in the North, there may be a whole different issue. :)

Well were a global consulting company.
So all contracts for work and employee's are in the UK.
We just sort out visa's to go other places.

Im on the register down south though, was only in the north for training really so wouldnt be called for jury duty there.
